The Story

Simbai Balus Kopi (Simbai Airplane Coffee) comes from the Simbai area, just over the Bismarck Range bordering the Western Highlands Province and Sepik Province. Genuine Origin and Volcafe, our importers working in that area, service over 4000 farmers in this isolated region through four airstrips.

Getting coffee from Simbali to a processing mill is far from easy. Simbli farmers have to bring their coffee to an airstrip sometimes a days journey from their farm. When there's finally enough coffee to fill a plane, local managers get a charter flight ready to bring the coffee to Mt. Hagan where it can access the main supply chain.
