For February, we're excited to bring you a unique, delicious coffee from Papua New Guinea. A medium-light roast, it's a smooth body and just a slight hint of citrus fruit. read more
This coffee comes from a 200-hectare plantation that's owned by Anjip Mare, of the Wahgi Plantation, as well as block holders and smaller farmers. A portion of the parchment was hulled in Jiwaka Province and transported, approximately 200 miles, to our central mill in Goroka, in the Eastern Highlands; the remaining portion was hulled at the mill. To preserve the coffee's quality, it remained in the Highlands as long as possible and was transported the 200 miles to the (humid) port city of Lae, just in time to meet the boat.
Anjip purchased the Marenban Estate after it had fallen into extreme disrepair. He's brought it back to it's former glory and is definitely producing some amazing coffees. Thanks to a relationship with Genuine Origin, we're able to bring you this coffee to enjoy this month.
If you'd like to, you can read more detail about Anjip Mare and his work at the Marenban estate on our blog.
